Black Sails offers a variety of classes to fit your needs. We have black belt instructors teaching
and training every day. We love martial arts and are eager to share our knowledge with the world. Come try a class and see for yourself!

Classes

Fundamentals (Gi and No-gi)

Fundamentals classes are essential for beginners, but recommended for all practitioners. These classes aim to introduce newcomers to the foundational positions and movements of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, encouraging the development of a strong base from which advanced skills can be
developed. Fundamentals classes incorporate individual and partner mobility drills, position
specific techniques following a structured curriculum, and situational sparring to put the newly learned skills to the test. Fundamentals classes are offered both in gi and no-gi.

Drilling/Competition Classes

You don’t have to compete to come to competition class, but if you’re planning to compete we
highly recommend you make at least one competition class per week. Competition classes are where we test and hone our skills. These classes will push and challenge your abilities, and
your cardio! Classes consist of warm-ups, drilling (repeating specific techniques or
movements), takedowns and competitive rolling.

Positional Sparring

A class for more experienced practitioners to hone their skills. Work and improve existing techniques or explore new ones. Drilling and situational sparring. Prior to attending your first class please reach out to one of the instructors

Open Mat

This is a non-instructional time where participants are encouraged to practice what they’ve
learned. This can be extra time to drill/rep out movements, practice techniques of the week,
sharpen up competition strategies, or just come work up a sweat and go home tired and
happy. Friday and Saturday Open mat is open to all affiliations, blue belt and up.

Muay Thai

Students will learn a variety of striking techniques including punches, kicks, elbows, knees and sweeps. You will also learn important concepts such as timing and distance management, ring awareness, clinching and defensive techniques.
